Susan Rice, the American ambassador to the UN, said there was “no greater threat” to US support and funding of the UN than the prospect of Palestinian statehood being endorsed by member states.
Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian authority, plans to ask the UN general assembly, which comprises all 192 members, to vote on recognition at its annual meeting in New York in September.
The US and Israel are pressing Abbas to drop his plans. Obama has strongly opposed the move, raising the prospect of a veto in the UN Security Council, which is expected to vote on a Palestinian statehood proposal in July.
However, Palestinian officials have spoken of their determination to a circumvent a US veto by deploying a rarely used Cold War mechanism known as “Uniting for Peace” under which a two-thirds majority in the General Assembly can override the Security Council.
Speaking at an event in Washington, Rice said the Obama administration was devoting “extraordinary efforts and energy” to restarting middle-eastern peace talks so that a vote in September could be avoided.
On the prospect of it being approved, she said: “This would be exceedingly politically damaging in our domestic context, as you can well imagine.”

Moreno-Ocampo said on Sunday that the war crimes in Libya will not stop until Gaddafi is arrested. “Crimes continue today in Libya. Libya’s rebel military is defending NATO after airstrikes killed a number of Libyan civilians. The show of support follows Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi’s condemnation of the alliance as murderers.
A rebel military spokesman called NATO a legitimate force that is doing its job, carrying out the United Nations mandate to protect Libyan civilians.
Colonel Ahmed Bani argued that anyone who speaks differently about the alliance or blames them for any shortcomings is against the freedom of the Libyan people. Operating from a United Nations mandate to protect Libyans, NATO’s air operation has been a linchpin for the rebels seeking to oust Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.
Rebel spokesman Bani, addressing reporters in Benghazi Thursday, laid the blame for the recent deaths on Gadhafi, saying his attempt to cling to power by any means is the reason for the casualties.
Bani added his condolences for those killed, saying whoever dies, on either side, is Libyan.

You are not supposed to know these. IOA (Israeli Occupation Authorities) are not only active in the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestine, but also busy with a digital warfare, in a pathetic effort to jail, threaten and eventually (in any mean possible) to silence activists, journalists and the press - so the horrendous truth does not to leak out of Palestine. It can go on committing massacres; for the world, in it’s ignorant and asleep state keeps affirming the “Human Rights” of the “State of Israel” - not punishing it’s violations, but tacitly rewarding it in silence.
Not only is Gaza under Siege, not only is Palestine under occupation, but the whole world seems to submit - because people don’t know the truth, and anything is done to prevent their “human democratic and free” image of Israel from being shattered (What’s a democracy if it can do as it pleases to the humans it occupies? Where are the “Human rights”).
Recently added 2 new massacres and undoubtedly, there will be more to come. Not ashamed, IOA even puts a hitlist on the Internet. For those who forgot about the latest flotilla massacre:

The list does not display, the numerous victims of the zionist occupation which are undocumented by the media. Nor it displays the victims of the “silent onslaught” due to restrictions of movement, ability to go to hospitals for treatment or life saving surgery, due to lack of medication because of the blockades and so on; for example, the ‘situational Genocide’ as a result of the Siege on Gaza alone, subsequently saw 600 patients die under Israeli Siege.
How many more dead Palestinian corpses does the international community need to see in order to act? How many more cruelties and violations of Human Rights, Regulations and International Law will be needed to intervene so ongoing war-crimes are stopped once and for all.
The picture… sickens me - makes me feel physically sick, that people can dehumanise a populace to such an extent, that you think it’s morally acceptable to target their Pregnant wombs. But hey “he’s only going to grow up to be a terrorist!” right? Disgusting.
Where’s the common humanity, where’s the respect and dignity towards human life and human rights? The fact that such a callous and sadistic attitude, can be translated to mere casual street fashion, even by a minority, is truly sickening.
As for the ongoing and prior massacres that the article highlights / lists… well, there’s not much commentary needed there, it kind of speaks for itself really. The silence and lack of global initiative (and hence tacit approval in my books) is truly disheartening and makes you lose faith in the sorry state of Global affairs - when a ‘strategic alliance’ is more valuable than human life.
Even if this is a small group of people wearing this shirt, even if it’s a small amount of people actively supporting these human rights abuses, it is absolutely unacceptable. Obviously not all Israelis think this way, but many are complicit and neutral as these things occur.
We need more outspoken Israeli advocates for human rights and social change in Israel and the occupied territories.
